Accessibility & Website ADA Compliance Policy

NAVARRO LIVING LLC · ACCESSIBILITY & WEBSITE ADA COMPLIANCE POLICY

A backyard retreat should be reachable by everyone who visits us online.

My Luxe Backyard sells pergolas, gazebos, patio furniture, fire pits, saunas, and cold plunges through myluxebackyard.com. We want every visitor, including customers who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard only, or rely on other assistive technology, to be able to browse, compare, and check out without hitting a wall. This page explains the accessibility standard we build toward, what we've done so far, what's still in progress, and exactly how to reach us if something on the site doesn't work the way it should.

Our Approach

A plain account of where our accessibility work stands today

My Luxe Backyard is owned and operated by Navarro Living LLC and sells exclusively through myluxebackyard.com, a Shopify-hosted storefront serving customers across the Continental United States. We believe that a person's ability to browse a pergola, compare gazebo dimensions, or complete a checkout shouldn't depend on how they access the internet.

We treat digital accessibility as ongoing product work, not a box we check once. That means we review our Shopify theme, product pages, cart and checkout flow, and the third-party apps we install (such as review widgets, live chat, and upsell tools) with accessibility in mind, and we correct issues as we find them or as they're reported to us. We do not rely on an accessibility overlay or widget as a substitute for building the site correctly, because these tools address only a narrow slice of the barriers a person may encounter and do not, on their own, make a website compliant.

This page was written specifically for myluxebackyard.com. It isn't a copied template, and we update it as our platform, apps, and product catalog evolve.

What the words in this policy actually mean

Accessibility terminology gets thrown around loosely. Here's exactly what each term means when we use it on this page.

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

An internationally recognized technical standard, published by the W3C, that defines how to make web content usable by people with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities. We target Level AA of version 2.1.

Assistive Technology

Software or hardware a person uses to browse the web, such as a screen reader, screen magnifier, voice-control software, switch device, or keyboard-only navigation instead of a mouse.

Accessibility Barrier

Any element of a page, app, or checkout step that prevents or makes it substantially harder for a person using assistive technology to find information, complete a purchase, or use a feature that other visitors can use.

Accessibility Overlay / Widget

A third-party script layered on top of a site to adjust display settings automatically. We do not treat an overlay as a compliance solution; any overlay-style tool we use is a supplement to, not a replacement for, fixing the underlying code.

Coverage By Site Area

How accessibility work breaks down across myluxebackyard.com

Different parts of the site raise different accessibility questions. Here's a transparent, area-by-area look at what we build for and continue to test, from browsing a pergola collection to completing checkout on a sauna order.

Navigation & Page Structure

Skip Links · Headings · Focus Order

Our menu, collection pages (Pergolas, Gazebos, Patio Furniture Sets, Fire Pits, Saunas, Cold Plunges), and footer use semantic HTML headings and landmarks so screen reader users can jump directly to the content they want, and a logical tab order so keyboard-only visitors can reach every link and button without a mouse.

Product Images & Media

Alt Text · Descriptive Labels

Product photos, lifestyle images, and category thumbnails carry descriptive alternative text so a screen reader can convey what a pergola, gazebo, or fire pit looks like. Where a product video is added to a listing, we work toward including captions or a text description of its content.

Cart & Checkout

Keyboard Operable · Labeled Fields

Adding an item to your cart, adjusting quantity, entering a shipping address, and completing payment through Shopify's checkout are built to work with a keyboard alone and to expose clear, programmatically associated labels for every field to assistive technology.

Color, Contrast & Text

4.5:1 Minimum Contrast · Resizable Text

Body copy, prices, and buttons across the site are checked against a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against their background, and we avoid using color alone (for example, a swatch color) to convey information without also including a text label. Text can be resized up to 200 percent in a browser without losing content or function.

Forms & Account Tools

Error Identification · Clear Instructions

Our contact form, newsletter signup, and account login and registration fields identify errors in text (not color alone), describe what's required before you submit, and are built so a screen reader announces validation messages when they appear.

Third-Party Apps & Embeds

Reviews · Live Chat · Payment Widgets

We select Shopify apps for reviews, live chat, and promotional pop-ups with accessibility in mind, and where a third-party app introduces a barrier we cannot immediately fix ourselves, we work with the app provider or look for an accessible alternative.

If a specific product page, PDF spec sheet, or checkout step isn't working with your assistive technology, email support@myluxebackyard.com with the page URL and a description of the issue, and we'll prioritize a fix and offer to complete the purchase or answer questions with you directly in the meantime.
Legal Framework

The federal and state law behind this policy

This page is written to operate within, not around, the laws that already protect you as a website visitor and buyer. Two bodies of law matter most here.

Americans with Disabilities Act, Title III

Websites as places of public accommodation
Federal courts, including the Ninth Circuit, have increasingly treated the website of a retail business as covered by Title III, meaning it must be usable by people with disabilities in the same way a physical store must be.
No single federal technical rule, yet
The U.S. Department of Justice has not issued a formal regulation setting a specific technical standard for private business websites under Title III. In its absence, courts and the DOJ have consistently pointed to WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the practical benchmark, which is the standard we build toward.
Enforced through complaints, not a certificate
Title III compliance isn't a badge a business can purchase or a widget can guarantee; it's demonstrated through how a website actually performs for someone using assistive technology, which is why we test with real tools rather than relying on automated scores alone.

State & Local Accessibility Law

New Jersey Law Against Discrimination
As a New Jersey-registered company, Navarro Living LLC operates with New Jersey's own anti-discrimination protections in mind, which New Jersey courts have applied to places of public accommodation, including online ones, alongside federal law.
Additional state protections where you live
States including California (Unruh Civil Rights Act) and New York (State and City Human Rights Laws) provide their own, sometimes stronger, digital accessibility protections for residents shopping with out-of-state retailers like ours.
Independent of this page
Nothing in this Accessibility & Website ADA Compliance Policy is intended to reduce, waive, or limit any right you already hold under federal or your state's accessibility and disability rights law.

This section is provided for transparency and general information. It is not legal advice, and accessibility law continues to evolve at both the federal and state level. If you have questions about how these laws apply to your specific situation, we'd encourage you to contact your state civil rights agency or a qualified attorney.

Accessibility is ongoing work, not a finished state

No website, including ours, can guarantee it is barrier-free at every moment for every combination of browser, device, and assistive technology. Shopify releases theme and checkout updates, we add or remove product listings, and third-party apps change on their own schedules. We treat each of those as a reason to keep testing, not as an excuse to stop. If you encounter something that doesn't work, that report is genuinely useful to us and we act on it.

This doesn't reduce your other rights

Nothing on this page limits your ability to file a complaint with a state or federal agency, contact an attorney, or pursue any remedy available to you under the Americans with Disabilities Act or your state's law. We would simply ask that you also give us the chance to fix the issue directly and quickly.
