Prohibited Items & Restricted Products Policy
What we sell, what we won't, and the rules that come with each.
My Luxe Backyard sells outdoor living equipment, including fuel-burning fire pits and wood- or electric-heated saunas, that carry real handling rules. This page sets out, in full, the categories of items we will never list, the regulated products we do sell and exactly what conditions apply to them, and the federal and state law that shapes both lists.
A clear, honest line between what we list and what we never will
My Luxe Backyard is owned and operated by Navarro Living LLC. We are a retailer of outdoor living equipment, pergolas, gazebos, patio furniture sets, fire pits, saunas, and cold plunge systems, sold to customers across the Continental United States.
Several of these categories are regulated in some way: propane and wood-burning fire pits involve open flame and combustible fuel, sauna heaters generate high heat and run on dedicated electrical circuits, and cold plunge chillers are electrical appliances used next to standing water. None of that makes these products dangerous when used correctly, but it does mean clear rules matter, both about what we will never sell and about the specific conditions attached to the regulated products we do.
This page exists to put both lists in one place, in plain language, so you know exactly what you're buying and what's expected of you as the buyer, installer, and user.
What the words in this policy actually mean
"Prohibited" and "restricted" get used interchangeably across the internet. Here is exactly what each term means when we use it on this page.
Prohibited Item
A product or product category we will never list, sell, or ship under any circumstance, regardless of customer request. We have no prohibited-item exceptions process, because we simply don't carry these categories.
Restricted / Regulated Item
A product we do sell, such as a propane fire pit or an electric sauna heater, that is subject to specific federal, state, or local rules around installation, fuel handling, electrical connection, or location of use.
Hazardous Material (Hazmat)
A substance, like compressed propane gas, that carries special transport rules under U.S. Department of Transportation regulations. We do not ship loose propane cylinders or any other hazmat-classified fuel; fire pits ship empty and unfueled.
Local Authority Having Jurisdiction
The city, county, or fire district office that sets local rules, such as burn permits or electrical permits, for the area where a product will actually be installed and used. These rules sit on top of, and can be stricter than, anything written here.
Categories we will never list, sell, or accept for sale
My Luxe Backyard exists to sell backyard and patio living equipment. The categories below fall entirely outside our business model. We do not carry them today, will not add them in future, and would remove any listing that slipped through by error the moment we became aware of it.

Our full product range, and which categories carry extra rules
Three of our six categories are entirely unregulated beyond ordinary product safety standards. The other three involve fuel, heat, or electricity, and have their own section further down this page.
Pergolas & Gazebos
No fuel, no special permit by defaultAluminum and steel framed structures with hardtop, louvered, or fabric canopy roofs. No restricted materials. Larger or permanently anchored structures may require a local building permit, which is the buyer's responsibility to confirm.
Patio Furniture Sets
No fuel, no electrical connectionRattan, wicker, and metal-frame seating sets, including sets with an integrated fire pit table. The seating components themselves carry no special handling rules; where a set includes a fire pit table, that component falls under our fire pit rules below.
Cold Plunge Tubs & Chillers
Electrical — full safety page availableTubs and electric chiller units for cold water immersion. These run on standard household electrical current near standing water. Full safety and GFCI guidance lives on our separate Cold Plunge Safety & Health Disclaimer Policy page.
Open flame & fuel rules for propane and wood-burning fire pits
We sell both propane-fueled and wood-burning fire pits and fire pit tables. Both involve open flame, and both are subject to rules that sit above and beyond ordinary furniture safety.
Propane Fire Pits
Ships empty — no propane included or shippedPropane fire pits ship without a propane cylinder, and we do not ship loose propane or other compressed fuel cylinders under any circumstance; they are regulated hazardous materials under U.S. Department of Transportation rules and must be purchased locally and filled or exchanged at a licensed propane retailer. Only connect a properly rated, code-compliant propane cylinder, and always check hose and regulator connections for leaks using a soap-and-water test before each use.
Wood-Burning Fire Pits
Subject to local burn ordinancesWood-burning fire pits are open-flame appliances subject to local fire codes, seasonal burn bans, and air-quality restrictions that vary widely by city, county, and state. It is the buyer's responsibility to confirm that open burning is currently permitted at the installation address before first use, and to maintain the clearances from structures and combustibles described in the product manual.
Recommended for adult use only. Fire pits should be purchased, set up, and operated by an adult, with children and pets kept at a safe distance at all times during use.
Use only on a non-combustible surface, outdoors, in an open area. Never operate a fire pit on a wood deck without an approved heat-resistant pad, indoors, in a garage, or under a low roofline or canopy.
Keep a fire extinguisher or water source within reach. Never leave a lit fire pit unattended, and fully extinguish it before leaving the area or going to sleep.
Check fire danger conditions before lighting. In high wildfire risk regions of the country, including much of California, Colorado, Arizona, and the Pacific Northwest, even propane appliances can be restricted during red-flag or extreme fire-danger days. Confirm current conditions with your local fire authority.
High-heat and electrical rules for electric and wood-fired saunas
We sell both ETL-certified electric-heater saunas and traditional wood-fired barrel saunas. Both reach sustained high internal temperatures and both carry specific installation requirements.
Electric-Heater Saunas
Dedicated circuit, licensed install recommendedElectric sauna heaters are high-draw appliances that must be connected to a dedicated, correctly rated circuit as specified in the product manual, and we strongly recommend installation by a licensed electrician, particularly for any 240-volt or hardwired heater. Never modify, bypass, or override the heater's built-in thermal cutoff or timer safety features.
Wood-Fired Barrel Saunas
Open flame — chimney & clearance rules applyWood-fired sauna stoves are open-flame, chimney-vented appliances subject to the same local burn ordinance and clearance-to-combustibles considerations as a wood-burning fire pit. Confirm local rules on solid-fuel heating appliances before installation, and maintain a clear, non-combustible area around the stove and flue.
Shipping & fulfillment restrictions that apply to every order
We ship to the Continental United States only, and currently exclude Alaska and Hawaii given freight carrier limitations for the size and weight of our products. We do not ship to addresses outside the United States.
We never ship loose propane cylinders, fuel, ignition sources, or any other hazardous material classified for restricted carriage; fire pits and sauna stoves always ship empty and unfueled. Freight-delivered items, including saunas, cold plunges, and larger gazebos, generally require a clear, accessible delivery location and may require an adult signature on delivery. Full carrier and delivery details are set out in our Shipping Policy.
The federal and state law behind this policy
This page is written to operate within, not around, the rules that already govern fuel-burning and electrical outdoor equipment in the United States.
